Tearing up the highways today in the FoST, off to see that fiero that’s 150 miles away. Here’s hoping it’s in good shape! I brought some cash just in case I love it.
UPDATE: As of 1:00 today, I now have a 1985 Fiero base model - no A/C, wind up windows, and the 2.5L/5-speed combo. It needs a clutch, a headlight motor, some paint repair on the front bumper and hood (he bumped a deer at low speed, he says). But it’s solid and has maintenance papers and comes with a new reconditioned gas tank in case the old one is rusty. 900$ got it all.

What’s Oppo’s current ST demographic these days?

If the Fiero passes muster, you’re obligated by the Mid-Engine Clause of the Oppo Authorship Agreement to post Fiero content regularly...
Good luck! Hope the Fiero turns out awesome.

More FoST drivers than First, but still a dozen or more I think. We outnumber GTI owners still.

My first car was an 84 Fiero I got in 97. Bought it for $1500 and put $1200 worth of tires on it. That little POS wasn’t super fast, but it handled great. I totaled it when I hit a deer at 70mph...

I’m still here, and CoFL as well.

Saldana, blake (I think?) , and a few others still have their FoSTs, but they’re not as active on here anymore.

Oooof. This is this guy’s former daily driver. He bought an 84 brand new but in the early 2000s, he blew that motor and wanted to modify it. But he got this 85 for a daily driver. But he’s been retired for a while now and is too old to fix it. Clutch went out and the usual wear and tear has piled up so he’s selling. But I’m excited. Also, my 6'2" ass fits well, weirdly enough.

Spare gas tank is probably worth $500 alone. Nice price. There’s a guy that makes rebuild kits for the headlight motors.

Thanks. My goal is to get it into a good driving shape, then do radwood/woodward dream cruise and the like for a while. Keep it as a weekend/summer daily driver for a while. But maybe down the road I’l sell it when I finally decide to pony up for a Porsche 911.

Thanks! I think my garage will have to be complete for a little while. FoST is the daily, my KLR 650 is the around town/off-roading bike, the triumph will be the grand touring/long distance bike, and now the Fiero is the project car to putz around in.

It looks like someone can lift the car while you change it out

Very cool! I found a very nice video series on a fellow restoring a VERY similar Fiero to the one you just purchased, might be a good watch! :)

Score. Built in Pontiac Michigan if I remember correctly. I think all of them were. We used to drag race out there in the late 80s. Dumb school kids.

Yup! I’m going down the rabbit hole of cheesy 80s videos on it now
